Preaching Through The NT Powerfully With A Biblical Timeline Chart

In a Bible group years ago, a lady who had been a Christian and laboured in the local Church for years, asserted that,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-mosaic law) I wonder how many Christians will really pick up the error in this statement. Moses lived some 500 years after Abraham and so it is impossible. I have since made up a Bible chronological banner and explained more visually the chronology of individuals and occasions.

Some years ago, I was speaking on the death, life, resurrection and burial of Jesus, and a retired minister and powerful preacher of Scripture, who had been a pastor for forty years, came up and reproved me vigorously over some interesting points I made and he said 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I was teaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he said"No". I continued to explain that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't referring to examining the Bible but to the false teaching and school of thought of the Gnostics, but he would not have it. So, how can a forty year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not understand and know about something that probably 1/2 the books of the New Testament relate to?
How could he understand and teach the Bible in fullness without being aware of something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be able to interpret their Bible properly, if they are not told?
Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the aspects of the Bible and God's plan into a complete picture that our people can draw on for the remainder of their lives, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to live by.
It is not difficult to do, and it's not boring if we're prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just perhaps you can employ a Bible Timeline too.
